This was cute and fit what I was expecting, which honestly wasn't much. I read Pride and Prejudice but it's been a long time. I've never read anything by De La Cruz. Some of the writing was frustrating - I hate pet names in dialogue, I hate pop culture references and "her childhood bed" was about to turn into a drinking game. I could see why it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea, but for a little holiday fluff it was fun. I really enjoyed the gender reverse aspect and the small feminist shout outs. And the romance was pg safe. My favorite part was the ending. I love happily ever after and closure.
This book was so terrible I can’t even bring myself to give it even 1 star. It was just a hot mess from start to finish and I’m convinced that zero editing was done on this book before it was published. The only good thing about this book is that it was short and a quick read.
This was an interesting take on P&P. I got that it was gender swapped but it wasn’t an exact retelling. Like Darcy had lots of siblings, no one like Georgiana. No Wickham character. Luke “Elizabeth” was engaged to Charlotte Collins. That was weird putting those names together.
It was a quick fast read but fluff. Not much substance, which I could see being a Hallmark movie but this book had a gay Bingley being into Jim. I don’t think Hallmark would use that.
Not a favorite retelling and I don’t know if I’d read anymore books from this author - this was my first. But it literally was like $1.99 on Book Outlet so I had to at least try it! I almost dnf’Ed it.

It took me a while to get into it (reading funk). But I did enjoy this twist on Pride and Prejudice.
By far one of the worst books I've ever read. The plot moved along so jarringly that it felt like some sort of middle school novel. Most of the plot did not make sense and there were so many holes. The characters were all over the place with no real depth to them.
If you like Hallmark Christmas movies, then you’ll like this book. I, unfortunately, do not like those kinds of movies. The book seems like the novelization of a TV movie, rather than a stand-on-its-own novel that inspired a movie. It’s retelling of Pride and Prejudice is both too heavy handed in some parts and completely lacking in all the ways that make that book a classic. It honestly reminds me of the eggnog that these characters seem to be drinking all the time- too sweet, kind of makes me want to throw up, and will curdle if you look at too long.
This book was honestly terrible. If it hadn’t been a gift I would have stopped reading it. Maybe it’s just better if we don’t get a firsthand account of pride and prejudice from Darcy if that is how insufferable that character is.
