Nice beginning, held some promise, but alas, was all down hill after first 50 pages or so. I only finished reading since I needed the "X" in title for an alphabet reading challenge. This book left me with no interest in reading the two other books in this trilogy.

I had real problems finishing this. The lead character, Lulu, kept flipping and flopping from sympathetic to repulsive and by the time it ended, I really just wanted it over with.

Interesting concept, but terribly disappointing. Given that it's YA fiction, maybe I'm just too old?

Utter tripe.

This story just screamed YA dystopian melodrama. The writing was bland and unoriginal. The characters lacked depth and most were pretty much nonentities.

I've read far worse zombie books than this, but I still wouldn't give it more than 2.2 stars on a good day.

However, I rarely give any zombie books 3 or more stars--so read it yourself if you're interested in a slightly different take, or simply enjoy tales of the weird/undead.

VERDICT: No actual stars punched.
