From start to finish I was completely engulfed in “One of us is Lying”. This intriguing murder mystery is written by Karen M McManus, and she kept me on edge and wondering “whodunnit” the entire read.
The story starts off as a very stereotypical high school/teenage novel, you have your character from all walks of life, Bronwyn the brain, Addy the beauty, Nate the criminal, Cooper the jock and Simon the social outcast. However, Simon has many skeletons in his closet, including the dark and gossipy app About That. These students are all thrown into detention together, all claiming that they were framed for having contraband that didn’t belong to them, and before they know it, Simon has had an anaphylactic reaction, and died.
Now these students are thrown into the deep end when they go from being by standing witnesses to suspects of a murder case. Very quickly all their live begin to unravel around them, no matter how fast they try to draw them back in.
Terrible things begin to happen to the four students as a result of both the app, and the circumstances of Simon’s death are laid upon their shoulders. Secrets get out, reputations are sullied, and seemingly no one is safe.
This is precisely why you need to read this novel, it is a web that you get caught and the only way out is to binge read the novel in a single sitting. The plot is so chocker block with tantalising moments and you really see true development within each character. I really loved able to grow with each of them as will you. So if you love teenage stereotypes, murder mysteries and plot twists that will have you gasping, this is the read for you.

This was solidly good! I really liked the character’s dynamics with one another, it was very cute and sweet, and I really did enjoy the plot twists. They weren’t super unpredictable, but they were intelligent and really fun!! This was overall good and decent, I’ll probably continue the series just because I like completing things, but I don’t predict I’ll remember this very strongly.

Brilliant!! I haven't seen a murder mystery in this style in so long and I loved it!! Bronwyn and Maeve are amazing characters, especially Maeve, who for me is my new definition of Girl Power!! It flows, the plot is clever and it is overall a great book!
I loved it.
