Hated the “surprise I’m gay” reveal, also the plot was super predictable

4.5 stars.

If you loved 13 Reasons Why (the book) and wish you could have that again: read this book. (I also agree with the description that it's Breakfast Club meets Pretty Little Liars.)

If you read a ton of 'who is the killer' novels you'll figure out who it is pretty quickly (hence the 4.5 stars) but most readers will be surprised because it's very original!

Each of the main characters lso goes through a personal metamorphosis while figuring out what happened, which is beautiful. That "coming of age" aspect that happens along with the main plot is what keeps bringing me back to YA.

The audible was also terrific--I love when books do different voices for each of the main characters or narrators.

SUMMARY: 5 high school cliche's are in detention (nerd girl, jock, bad boy, prom queen, outcast) when the outcast suddenly drops dead. The police determined he was poisoned and the other 4 are suspects...and suspecting each other... and everyone has a secret that could have been motive to kill.

The book was pretty entertaining, with many secrets revealed but even with all, I felt the final reveal very anticlimactic and by the end of it felt like I was let down

It was a very interesting book but I suspected it was a suicide a couple chapters in and my friend recommended it to me saying it was SUPER UNPREDICTABLE but I still loved it so 4.5 stars

Many things can be said about this book...but I'm sure I'd consider any of them compliments. I felt that the book was hard to follow, as it switched perspectives so often. Every character's voice was so similar that I constantly found myself flipping back to see who was narrating. The plot was okay, up until the end when you find out who the killer is... It turned out to be suicide, which always feels like a cheap ending in murder mysteries. It's like when authors throw in random new characters to fix plot holes. UGH.

If you like murder mysteries, perhaps you will enjoy this. Mysteries are not my forte, so perhaps that makes me bias.

I'd say get it from a library to test it out. Don't spend 20 dollars on the special edition hardcover as I did. Unless you REALLY want to. But still...libraries are our friends.

Now, where's the movie?
