such a heavy but beautiful book about loss, anger, friendship, and struggle. do not read this book if you don't have the mental capacity, it is not a light read. that being said, this book was very well written and compelling. i really enjoyed listening to it as the different narrators did a great job bringing the characters to life. this book is gonna stick with me for a while

I went into this book completely blind, my dear friend picked it for a summer book club. And all I can say is WOW!

There is so much grief and anger written into these pages, it’s so relatable and powerful. It really made me think about the cost of “the American dream” and how we as humans have a deep rooted longing for connection and to become something more than we are.

Noor and Sal are both excellent examples of perseverance and a testimony of how each of us experience tragedy and pain that scorches us and leaves us left to feel like nothing. But with time, we rise triumphant from the ashes. And though grief never truly leaves us, we are whole because of it.
