I've enjoyed Matt Haig's other books, but The Life Impossible didn't work for me. It was really slow and felt almost repetitive at times, revisiting concepts that I felt had been well established. When the story finally arrived at the climax, the action was summed up so quickly. There's a scene that I would think would carry a lot of emotional weight and complexity due to how it's been set up, but it was so brief and simply handled. This book ultimately felt poorly paced and unbalanced.

Great writing. Really liked it in pockets but was in kind of a funk of a mood when reading it so don’t feel like I was in the right head space. Loved this quote towards the end: “ people you love deeply become elemental. To hear they won’t be there anymore is like hearing the air or ocean won’t be. It feels like a fatal disruption in the universe. 🤍
