3.5 stars, rounded up. The plot was good, but it did seem to drag for the second half. Great book for discussion, though. Brings up a lot of thought-provoking questions about science, human connection, and spirituality. So for that reason, I really enjoyed it.

This book is difficult in that I would say this book is worth the read and I wanted to spend my free time reading it, but I also thought it was just okay. I thought the book had a good plot and solid, funky, real characters, but feel like it is just INUNDATED with “life lessons” and philosophical nonsense. It was kind of like listening to that one annoying know-it-all in class input their “new observation” every chance they could get. It felt like life lessons were being shoved down my throat, and usually I’m a big fan of big meanings, and that’s probably what the author intended, but it was overwhelming to read.

I don’t even have words for how much I loved this book. I’m not a religious person, but I do believe all of us are connected to each other and the world around us. This story explores that idea so it resonated with me and I adored it. It’s fantastical, imaginative, and I loved the whole arc of it. The author paints beautiful images with his writing and that really helped with this story. It’s possible this one has moved to my top favorite books.
