Certainly didn't age well with it's portrayal of the romani population but other than that, this book was pretty neat in terms of drama
Het is een dik boek, maar er gebeurt zo weinig. De eerste helft zou zoveel korter kunnen. Verder is het een klassieke Sam of Wilds verhaal.

Not quite as good as the previous book, but still sooooo gooooood.
I have the deepest admiration for Ryan Foxheart to be able to stay somewhat sane in that group. The over the top sex talk got a bit tedious sometimes, but the overall story is just great. I’m already eagerly awaiting the next installment. I can’t wait to see what characters TJ Klune comes up with. I mean a 1400-year old teenage emo dragon!!??

I’m loving this series so far!! This book loses a little bit of the fun that the pining star-crossed romance trope the first one has, but it’s still fun in its own way and the characters are still super lovable! The aspect of this almost love triangle with the introduction of a new cornerstone was funnnnn. The narration is very fun too, though again, some choices feel a bit questionable. The writing, as well, sometimes uses terms that I think may be considered harmful or offensive to Romani people. I don’t think there was much awareness of this when the book was written and I’m sure that is not the intent, but through a 2023 lens I believe it could be taken the wrong way, especially as the perception of the magic of the people described with this term is ridiculed frequently in the book.
I’m going to continue on with the series and again, I love Klune’s writing style, just wanted to voice some thoughts! I’m intrigued how this story will continue through the next book, stay tuned!!

3.5 stars.
I didn't like it as much as the previous one, maybe because it was too different. Where the first one was a fun, hilarious story with an amazing romance, this one was missing a few of those elements.
I /get/ that we couldn't get the slow-burn love story twice and I /get/ that we still needed some plot, but urgh, did it have to be Sam's annoying grandmother and a wanna-be-love-triangle that thankfully never was an actual love-triangle but the threat of it was still present enough to be annoying.
(Also, waaay too much focus on the destiny-plot instead of the romance this time. I don't read these books for the plot, you know. No one does. I read these books so the plot helps the characters do some exciting things.)
But still, I love the characters, I love Sam and Ryan, it was still hilarious in parts and I was entertained the whole time!
This is still a great book and I will read the next few installments! I just don't think any of them will give me that same warm, soft and fuzzy feeling that the first one gave me.

How to write a review of this... all this? My humble abilities does not does not extend that far. I bow out of it...at least for now.
I loved the first one so much! I was expecting the same for this book. It was great and I found myself laughing a lot but it was so much more serious. This is understandable due to the nature of the story but I found myself wanting to skip over some of the more serious parts and get back to the funny!

I just love these characters. And the plot is becoming even more interesting!
