Beware of SPOILERS below!

Well, this wasn’t great. I actually think this was one of my least favorite volumes of Yona so far. The problem is definitely that there isn’t enough going on with the happy hungry bunch. I don’t care about this stupid Kai emperor and his schemes okay… the only good part of that plot line was general Val because he’s kinda hot and that’s it.

Most of this volume revolves around the concubine whose name is Meinyan (I think) and she is a bit annoying. I liked the scene where she’s trying to convince Hak to escape out of prison with her and he keeps refusing her because yes, Hak should refuse her. But then the plot with her drags on as Yun helps her and suddenly she’s nicer and doesn’t want to kill Yona as much because Yona brings her the squirrel. Oh, another good thing that happens is that Meinyan calls Ju-do old man and I agree even if it’s not completely true. If it triggers Ju-do, it’s good.

Anyway, there were plenty of good things happening with our happy hungry bunch. Hak decided to help Yun get some senju herb and I’m so proud for him to trust the dragons to protect Yona while he’s absent. But then my girl Yona jumps off the building in a Jae-ha fashion and he’s so mad and worried that something would have happened to her when she landed. I love it. My man Hak also saves Geun-tae and it’s amazing so yeah. And then the asshole named Keishuk asks Yona to lead the army alongside Su-won and take over if something happens to him which was a bit surprising. What the hell is Keishuk doing?

There is also a bonus chapter in this volume and it’s about Su-won visiting the wind tribe. It’s very funny because Hyeong-dae and Tae-u are a bit obsessed with him and they drag him along everywhere. It’s also hilarious that Hak became Su-won’s pillow or something like that.

Overall, this volume is pretty weak but it’s still enjoyable and entertaining to some extent. Whatever going on with the happy hungry bunch is great but this volume focuses too much on the Kai army. I’m giving it 3 stars but I hope that what follows is better.
