This is the typical Robert Kruse romp, with tongue firmly planted in cheek. Fast, easy, fun.

This book has the disadvantage of being a sequel to one of the funniest books I have ever read. Those are big shoes to fill. Like most younger brothers living in the shadows of a giant, it doesn’t surpass the original, and if it could get out of those shadows, would be excellent by most standards. But in the situation it is stuck in, it doesn’t merit more than “really good.”
The Star Wars reference go right up to the line of being a rip off of the original, but safely settle on the good side of that line and come off as a loving homage instead. Nicely done.
Anyway, I recommend starting with Starship Grifters. When (not if) you enjoy that and find yourself wanting more, this fits the bill nicely. If I could, I’d give it a 4.8/5.0
