The book was informative, but I felt like it dragged too much on the points. However I know this was not written for neurotypical individuals, so I found this to be overall effective for the group of people that it is targeted towards. Some of the scientific explanations were super helpful and cool though!

Pang offers a self-reflective account of topics that she, and many others, may struggle with throughout their lives. I definitely would not call this book a manual; sometimes there could have been more explanation about how to directly apply these concepts in everyday life.

Overall, I did enjoy this book. Some topics were more memorable and enjoyable than others, but as someone who is in a scientific field of study I found it all fascinating.

I tried to read this book a few years ago and couldn’t get in to it, but picked it up recently and really enjoyed the read. In Explaining Humans, Dr Camilla Pang goes through various concepts of human behaviour and relates them to a scientific principle. It’s more of a memoir of how she sees the world rather than an actual instruction manual about humans, which is what I was expecting but some readers are not.

I don’t agree with reviews stating there should be clearer links between the concepts and human behaviours - the whole idea behind this book is that it’s not a neurotypical way of looking at these concepts, and taking the time to understand these different ways of thinking is a good thing.

I would recommend reading this one chapter at a time to spread out the science.
