This is my second read of Red Queen and boy did I love it!

Mare is a Red and in her world red's are second class citizens to the talented and magic welding Silvers.
The difference is in there blood, Silvers have super hero abilities, manipulating water, controlling fire, mind control, manipulating plant growth, fastness, sneakiness the list goes on.

If you are a red with no job or apprenticeship you are automatically conscripted at 18 to fight a war you have no choice in and be lucky to make it a year. Mare is conscripted and looking for a way to save her Best friend from the same fate, while Mare is out she stumbles along a boy that takes pity and lands her in a cushy servants job were everything takes off from here!

I loved re-reading this and getting to see all the characters in a different light knowing where this is heading but also wanting to yell and warn them when something bad is going to happen!

Spoiler Re reading this I don't know how I didn't see Maven as the sneak he is I mean he is just so shifty sometimes and so strange with his Mother. The ending is the best part of the book, the execution, the bowl of bones and the amazing escape revealing her "dead" brother with his awesome teleporting jumping power. It pumped me for the next book and left me on a high.

This book kept me on my feet! it is fast paced and never dull.

I loved the blood descriptions and found the thought of bleeding Silver really different and fun to imagine, also the world building and descriptions are really well done.

When Mare is working in the palace she accidentally reveals her powers. Then its the King and Queens job to cover this the hell up with some out there story and claiming shes been a silver all along.

The Romance in this book is there but its not OUT THERE! and oh god! the ending! I was just like 'NO NO it can't be like that that ruins everything!' then I was like "YES YES more evilness please!'.

Also who has a time machine??? seriously just so I can go into the future and grab a copy of the next book! Stuff Marty Mcfly and his Sports results just give me all the sequels and prequels! haha

I’d been wanting to read Red Queen for quite some time, and I’m happy to say that I wasn’t disappointed. I greatly enjoyed the plot, there was plenty of drama to keep me invested, lots of action and surprises. Red Queen is outside the realm of what I normally read, but I’m glad I branched out a bit for this one.

4.5 stars.

These books are like crack for me. Is this actually a 4.5 star book at all? Probably not.

This book is the love child of Fourth Wing, Red Rising, and a tad bit of the Cruel Prince as well, but more YA than all of them.

YA doesn’t bother me luckily, so this was great. However, the book had MANY faults. Simple things like uneven pacing, confusion of where characters were, some of the twists were painfully obvious, and I have no evidence of this but it felt like there were a few continuity errors that I just had to brush over.

I think I just need to find better first person books to be honest. Nonetheless, I will be continuing this series for sure until the quality drops off because it’s fun and some of the twists were fantastic.

Probably gonna lower my grade of Cruel Prince as well. The YA books I enjoy probably don’t deserve my fully backed 5 stars.

Years late to this but OH MY GOD
