Loved this book! A princess story and an X Men cartoon with a little hunger games thrown in, but still uniquely itself. Nicely done and fun to read.

Ho finito questo libro da diverse ore, ma sono ancora incapace di formare pensieri coerenti.
Da tanto un fantasy non sapeva prendermi così, sono rimasta incollata alle pagine, ho continuato a leggere fino a notte fonda, sono addirittura scappata in un parchetto nella pausa pranzo da lavoro, in modo da poterlo continuare a leggere in pace!
Per tre giorni questo libro è stata la mia ossessione, e una parte di me avrebbe voluto continuare a leggerlo, poter prolungare la fine.
Ed invece è arrivata, e dire che il colpo di scena finale mi ha spezzato il cuore è dire poco!
Ho amato tutti i personaggi principali di questa storia, così reali, così veri che mi sembrava quasi di averli conosciuti per davvero nella vita reale.
La scrittura di Victoria Aveyard è a dir poco eccezionale, descrive un mondo terribile, e al tempo stesso bellissimo, cattura i lettori in un universo nuovo e fantastico, ti strega e non ti lascia più andare.
Questo libro è entrata di prepotenza nella mia personale top5 di libri preferiti di sempre, e dire che subito non mi attira neanche tanto! Che ingenua.
Non vedo l'ora di leggere il secondo.

I went into this blind, and it was a fun experience.
It had a bit of a slow start in my opinion, but as the world building came together, I began to really enjoy it. The main character was especially interesting to me, as well as the princes.
I loved the complex, morally grey characters and the foreshadowing. There was a plot twist at the end that I actually didn't see coming. Maybe it was obvious to others, but my jaw dropped and the sadness I felt about it was intense.
The lines blurred in this book between the opposing sides, and that's the way I like it honestly. It didn't seem so black and white because you can see the viewpoints of most of the characters, even if they're the opposite of the other characters.
A lot of your usual fantasy tropes, but I thought it worked and kept my interest. A good read!
