I started reading red queen as a joke (really

Ummmmm I'm gonna say this is more of a 3.5 or so, it just felt like a lot of things I've read previously mushed into one book at times and i don't know how I feel about it and the main character. Still an enjoyable read even though it took me over a month, and I think it'll be interesting to see where the author takes this story.

This book is very underrated I don’t read a lot of fantasy driven books but this book had me engaged I loved the plot twists and the mystery included in this book would recommend .

Interesting story and world building. I didn't realize it was YA until part way in. The teenage angst got annoying at times. I feel the author has a very warped sense of time in this book and the following books in the series. There was a lot of "I cannot believe happened just yesterday/last week/a month ago" from the narrators but based off of how many things happened and how strong of relationships are formed it is completely unrealistic.

This book is SO similar to Powerless that it felt like I’ve read the same book twice (I know this came out first). I didn’t enjoy this much - interesting concept but I was just bored.

2023——

5/5 stars! I read this book for the first time in 2016 and loved it. I didn’t understand the hate for it back then and I still don’t understand it now. It holds up so well it’s unbelievable! I really want to finish the series as I only read the first book in 2016. Just incredible! This is YA at its finest idagf what anyone says this book is the best.

5/5 Stars!

Oh my god.
I loved this book so much.
When I first started reading it, I knew it was going to be a good read. I was so blown away at the beginning at how much it was going my way. Usually in novels it doesn't always go my way. I'm like why did that have to happen? Why did this have to happen? But with this I loved the way everything ended up. I loved the characters, I loved the detail and the world. The world of Norta and the surrounding areas was so awesome. I loved the idea of the Red Bloods and the Silver Bloods. and Mare having that lightning power! If I could have any super power it would probably be electricity/lightning I think its so empowering and just awesome. In most novels I crave that girl power, and I did get some girl power but sometimes there wasn't. As usual there is like a love square and it sometimes is focused on the love square there is going on here. Like does she like Kilhorn?Cal?Mavey? I was thinking this girl needs to make her mind up because she is going back and forth back and forth. And well I think everyone can agree who has read this book knows who she ends up with in this series we don't have much of a choice otherwise. I also totally saw the twist coming, I think it was a little obvious, I won't spoil but there is a lot of hints to know that this person is a bit of a evil snake just by this persons hidden traits. The worst type of betrayal is when that person is seen as perfect and is not obviously being an a hole. And also this book is kind of the Hunger Games, the Selection and some little tad bits of Game of Thrones likeness in the mix it also does have some good qualities of its own. Including more of a fantasy theme with nymphs and super powers and like the Hunger Games it is set in the future but they kind of live like the Tudors. Even though near the end I was getting a little lost and confused but it all wrapped itself up in the end. But some points I'am still confused about.

But I was fully engrossed in this novel from beginning to end every time I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about reading it. The concept was so up my street and I do have a tend to love some of the side characters more than the main. What I mean is Farley. She is super bad ass and has a lot of girl power. I really want to see her more in the 'Glass Sword'. Mare needs more girl power and I really like Gisa. I'm not usually keen on the main characters siblings sometimes but I actually really liked her as a character and its a shame she wasn't in it more. I really really want to read the sequel I can just sense it is going to be kick ass!
