This one was definitely weird in the best way. I frequently found myself finishing a chapter and going "what the f*ck is going on;" it kept me guessing about every detail until the very end.
The structure of the story definitely left me confused sometimes (intentionally), but it all came together in a very unexpected ending that left me questioning what was reality and what was fiction.
It was a gripping psychological thriller mixed in with a coming of age story that really left me speechless.

Book it’s so confusing sometimes to read and write a book.
Three stars out of five, because I could only get through 3/5ths of the book before giving up.
I started listening to the audiobook but finished it by reading it (recommend reading it instead, easier to follow). But overall, AMAZING!
Atmospheric, bizarre, and engrossing. Ward seems uninterested in a paint-by-numbers horror yarn, playing with form and structure up until the very last page. While I felt that some story developments, particularly toward the end, rang false, I admire Ward’s experimentation far more than I begrudge her any missteps.
Things I knew when I started this book: Nothing
Things I knew when I finished this book: Nothing… but, like… in a good way???
Really pleasantly surprised by this one, because I didn’t enjoy Sundial at all. A book, within a book, within a book, with some witchcraft and serial killers mixed in. This book was a complete mind bend and with each page you never knew what was true and what wasn’t. I loved the Dagger Man stories and the differing POVs that all came together over time. The ending left a little to be desired for me, but overall I thought this was so spooky and suspenseful.
