I hate to say this since I had such high hopes for this book, but it was a total letdown. It remains in tried person throughout the entire novel, despite having two main protagonists it switches between. Just made it really hard to connect with the characters, or make them feel more then just words on a page. Romance buildup wasn't great, and it takes forever just to get to the actual beginning of the plot.
Again, respect for the author and others who may like this book, but it just wasn't it for me.

Such a cute holiday romance! I loved the backstory of their friendship and how it progressed throughout the story. I also loved the back and forth between two different trips, in two different climates around Christmas time. It kept it interesting and made the book fly by. The only thing for me was that the ending felt a little short and quick, I would’ve liked to see a little bit more of each of the couples adjusting to their new lives together. Otherwise, this is a great read for the holiday’s. It’s short, sweet, and gives off all the cozy holiday season vibes!
Thank you to NetGalley, Julia McKay, and PENGUIN GROUP Putnam for the eARC.

Fell so disappointingly flat by the end and the epilogue felt like a bad 90s tv show

Two doppelgänger friends switch places for the holidays!
❄️
Holly & Ivy have been best friends the second they met years ago. Between their names and how similar they look to one another, they make the perfect BFF pair, but when Holly’s fiancee jilts her at the altar, she has to get away. Ivy always rents a cabin for the holidays so she gifts it to Ivy. There she meets the rugged owner who turns out to be a blast from the past. Holly decides to go on Holly’s honeymoon in Hawaii where she meets a National Georgraphic photographer on assignment and starts to think maybe she can make a living from her art too. Both women find what they weren’t looking for this holiday season.
🏖️
I thoroughly enjoyed this holiday romance by Julia McKay! The dual points of view were done well and I enjoyed the audiobook narration too! Definitely high up on my holiday reads this season so far!
CW: infidelity, toxic relationship, cancer, grief
4.5 rounded up
