This book really reminded me of The Holiday Swap from a few winters ago. The main characters are Holly and Ivy and for a LONG time I had no clue which one was which because they’re just too similar for me. I finally caught on that IVY was in HAWAII and then I was good. It took me about 70% to be invested though. Very lighthearted and surface level which is what I kind of expect from holiday romances. Cute!

This book, where to begin? I wanted to love this so much. The plot is great in theory, and having it billed as “The Holiday meets the Unhoneymooners” probably set some unrealistic expectations.

My main gripe with this was how it was in third person, but still sort of dual POV, and then also in present tense. It just threw me for a loop and I felt the execution could have been better.

The two main characters are wildly co-dependent as friends. I love strong female friendships but it just felt they babied each other.

Overall I found the book a bit disorganized, and all too convenient. The guys all said the right things, the fights were resolved immediately, no one faced any real consequences. There were far too many characters, in my opinion.

Also…
I thought the whole Matt/Abby storyline was a bit ridiculous. Holly said she didn’t want to go on the honeymoon, so why was everyone mad that Matt went?? Who cares??? Abby was right when she said it “just made financial sense.” Fight me.

I liked both girls and their stories but I almost wish it had been two separate books so we really could have dove into each relationship

The Holiday Honeymoon Switch was the perfect lighthearted read that delivered the beachy, warm feels and small town wintery cabin feels with quirky circumstances and fun chemistry. A play on the movie, “The Holiday”, made the plot so fun with the two friends switching holidays and the unexpected love interests. I really enjoyed the secondary characters and appreciated the strategic roles they played in the storylines. I also really loved the dual POV as it always makes a story so much more entertaining.

Brittany Pressley’s narration is always so well executed and the way she narrated this story was no exception.

2 ⭐️. I really did not enjoy this book. It was poorly written, been there story line (The Holiday movie) with no compelling uniqueness and completely predictable with truly bad dialogue. I wish there was something about this book I liked besides the fact that it was a very quick read and I enjoyed the Christmas vibes. I feel bad for negative reviews but I really did not like this writing style. I strongly dislike 3rd person POV especially in dual POV. I started highlighting all the attempts to be relevant to pop culture, movies, memes and celebrities, spoiler alert it was way too many. Did we really need to describe our main characters as perfect celebrity lookalikes? I don’t know if I’ve ever met a Henry Cavill, Rachel Bilson, Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling level of gorgeousness let alone they all meet and fall for one another? By the way Eva Mendes is Cuban and they use it to describe a Latina woman from Mexico City, it doesn’t sit well with me. Also the dialogue is so cringe! It does way too much telling and not showing and these characters have zero personality. If you like Christmas setting Hallmark movies then maybe you’ve got a chance at liking this one. Nothing is believable in this instalove mess.

Thank you NetGalley, Penguin Group Putnam for this eARC in exchange for my honest review. This book will publish October 8, 2024.
