This Is Not My Hat

What an adorable book! I love how it follows the dialogue of the little fish but the illustrations follow the big fish. I read this to a group of 1st graders and they loved it!

Jon Klassen animals, what expressive eyes you have! I love the overall design of this book, the straightforward but so-funny text, the ending, and the tip of the hat (oh, I crack myself up) to [b:I Want My Hat Back|11233988|I Want My Hat Back|Jon Klassen|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1327888784s/11233988.jpg|16160067].

January 2016 - instant hit. Ben's verdict: the little fish is hiding in the plants.

January 2018 - this time he thought the little fish might have been eaten, and found the tiny hat on the big fish really funny. I enjoy seeing how he interacts with books differently at different ages.

What happened to the little fish????

I love this author. My boyfriend read [b:This is Not My Hat|13531024|This is Not My Hat|Jon Klassen|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1333579114s/13531024.jpg|19092692] to me while I was driving during a traffic jam (storytime!), and I was so entertained that I actually felt sad when the cars started moving again (before the last page). I might even find this story funnier than [b:I Want My Hat Back|11233988|I Want My Hat Back|Jon Klassen|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1327888784s/11233988.jpg|16160067], though it's hard to say. I wish I knew more children to give these books to.

I actually discovered this in Edinburgh last year but found it again today. It's nicely done but didn't really work for me.

A very funny book about a fish who stole another fish's hat. The pictures are slightly on the small side so it would make a better one-on-one story.
