Marvelous illustration! Sort of a more polished "Leo Lionni" (Frederick, etc.) style. Amazing how a fish with no mouth can have such an expressive "face!" And the visual humor is adorable--charming to adults but still easily understandable by preschoolers. The dialogue is just right.
Great for lapsit readings and small storytimes.

This is a children’s picture book that is fun and witty. It is a sequel to the book.... A little fish steals a tiny hat from a big fish while the big fish is eating. The little fish is sure that there’s no way the big fish will find him and his hat because he is going to hide in an area with lots of sea plants. The big fish enters this area, and lo and behold, he exits with his hat...

Caldecott 2013 Winner
A small fish steals a big fish's hat. Big fish gets it back. I just don't picture a kid saying "again" at the end of this book. This does not compare nearly as well to other Caldecott winners (IMHO).

I loved "I Want My Hat Back" that I bought this (gonna put it in a Little Free Library). It was pretty good, though . Still loved it.
Spoiler
basically the same story as the previous one, just told from the point-of-view of the thief
this series is so good and cute and gave me a good laugh
