Death and Croissants

3.05 AVERAGE

medium-paced

Fell flat for me personally, which was truly a shame. The story and setting had so much potential but our protagonist was tedious and the story happened around him more than with him. I would have loved a more active protagonist, especially if he could’ve been more connected with the side characters, who were all rather interesting. Not bad but also not great

** 2.5 Stars (rounded up to 3, for Ava Gardner) **

Sadly this book just wasn't for me. I was really looking forward to it after reading other cozy mysteries. Unfortunately this one fell a bit flat.

I will say through the whole hen scene and hens was gold. *chefs kiss* I was dying over the hens, Lana Turner, Joan Crawford, and Ava Gardner. This was just so good.

Thank you to Net Galley, Farrago Books, and Ian Moore for the opportunity to read this R Arc. My review is voluntarily.

DNF 54%. Audiobook. Narrator (the author?) was too hard to understand with his accent - I multitask when I listen to audiobooks and it was too easy to zone out. I would be willing to revisit this in print.
