It’s cute, light hearted, and fluffy. And easy read and will brighten your mood!

One thing - I don’t think this author quite understands how height works. I, at 5’3, reach just under collarbone height on my 6’5 brother. But Olive at 5’8 somehow barely reaches that on Adam?
Obviously not a reading deal breaker, but as their heights are mentioned quite often it took me out of the story a lot lol!

HYPOTHESIS: If I fall in love, things will invariably end poorly.

I read The Love Hypothesis because I saw people hyping it up on Booktok and Bookstagram and figured I just had to read this book with the fake dating trope I absolutely love. And the author executed this trope quite well but the rest was just "okay".

Every chapter starts with a good little hypothesis suitable to our protagonist Olive's situation, which I found to be very charming and also lets you know what to expect in the current chapter you're reading, which is not so bad from time to time!
At times I could not take my eyes off the pages because I was desperate to know how that complicated situation near end of the book would be resolved, but everything I read in the book was also kind of very obvious and to be expected at the same time.

The Love Hypothesis gets 3 stars from me because of the beloved fake-dating trope; the cute fake-date situations in this book; for how easy to read the book was and for the nice smut scene later on in the book that managed to give me butterflies. But there are just some things that really put me off and made me shy away from giving this book a 4 or 5 star rating.

Some "meme" words and phrases were sometimes thrown into the character's dialogue which just made me cringe at times (did I just use one of these words myself? Maybe. Does this review now also deserve a 3 star rating? Probably) and that made me think that I may already be too old to read this story, thus not enjoying these quirky things thrown into the text for its target audience/readers.

The story in a whole felt very rushed and I did not really have the time to get too attached to the characters and care for them as much as I actually should in a book. Especially the smut scene towards the end, although a nice scene, just felt sooo out of place and also very out of character for our protagonist. It just came out of nowhere and kept going for a long while, which just made me feel like I am reading a different book and not the one I actually started.

All in all, The Love Hypothesis is a solid 3 star book for me and I think this could be a hit or miss for many people. If you're okay with reading a book that contains fake-dating cliches and an obvious story where you won't go to deep into liking the characters, go for it. If not, then maybe skip out on this one and use your money for a different romance book :)
