This book was a brick, and it felt like a bigger brick than it actually was. This took me literal MONTHS to get through, and finishing it feels like a weight off my chest. This isn't to say it's a bad book, because overall I enjoyed parts of the story, but there were large chunks where I would get bored and forget what I had read, so I fear that any summary I could give would be missing a lot of things. I liked the last 200 pages the most. I expected a family drama saga, but instead i got a semi-historical fiction WWII piece mixed with family history. I wish I had gotten more connected to the characters, but a lot of them just felt flat.
