Can't believe this is my first collection of hers I've read. She is a master of her craft, the details she puts in her poems brings out so many emotions

What a collection. I took my time with this one and I’m glad. There’s so much to digest in each poem so this definitely isn’t the type you want to read quickly. I highly recommend it.

with each poem I teleported to a place of remembering. Audre has always had a way of enmeshing our experiences. this is no different.

A spectacular gut-wrench of a poetry collection full of lyricism and abstract symbolism, exploring liberatory politics in the USA, womanhood, lesbian love, Blackness, and Yorubá culture and religious mythology among much more.
BICENTENNIAL POEM #21,000,000 brought me to tears with his deeply I felt it.
One of the best poetry collections I have had the honour of reading.

This is a collection that I know I’ll be coming back to time and time again. I’m glad I finally got around to reading a full collection from Audre Lorde since I’d only read individual poems of hers before. I annotated this collection heavily and I’ll probably annotate it even more with every reread.
