The continued adventures of my favourite neurodivergent FBI agent, Laurel Snow. Too smart for her own good and struggling to understand the emotional subtext when communicating with others, Laurel is still trying to prove that her father and half-sister are criminals. Knowing is one thing, proving it is another. And they're both getting cranky about her persistence. But is one of them killing women just to make her life miserable? Or has escaped serial killer Jason Abbot changed his MO? How many murderers are hunting in the Genesis Valley?

Laurel is learning more about her own emotions, too. She methodically takes care of her FBI team and sends her mom on a long vacation to get her out of harm's way. She finds that she misses them and that she feels isolated. Except for Huck, who has become uber protective since Laurel revealed her pregnancy. Now one of her many enemies is trying to hang some or all of the current murders on Huck to complete her isolation. (Shades of book one, when Huck was also considered a suspect. I question the intellect of the management who keep believing this.)

Zanetti seems to have tied up most of the loose ends in this book and may be moving on to other things. If she writes more Laurel Snow I will likely read it. I find I’m choosy about which of her series that I'm willing to spend my reading time on, but some, like this one, are quite enjoyable.

Very disappointed with this one. It feels that the author is just trying to get as much as she can from the crazy characters she created. The mystery part felt empty and the psychological side felt rehashed from the previous books … and apparently there’s going to be more though I personally don’t care anymore.

I’ve enjoyed every book in this series, ESPECIALLY this latest one. Grabbing you from page 1, the adventures of FBI special agent Laurel Snow and Captain Huck Rivers of Fish and Wildlife continue with more grisly murders to solve. But this time, it appears to be more personal.

I listened to the audiobook and the narrator, Amy Landon, did an excellent job portraying all of the characters in this complex murder mystery.

This is another outstanding thriller in this series with the romance heating up between Huck and Laurel tucked right alongside the murders to be solved. Serial killer or rather killers this time? Laurel Snow really has her hands full here but this book in particular focuses more on Huck and I was definitely here for it! Who doesn’t love a grisly, protective lawman, totally enthralled with an FBI special agent and has an adorable bear dog by his side.

I was thoroughly captivated until the very end where of course Rebecca with her brilliant writing leaves the door open for another book.

I’m disappointed. It took quite a bit for me to engage with the story as the beginning seemed to drag. Then, the thing that makes this series so fun (the amount of guessing it takes to actually land on who the killer really is) was missing.

And, i’m definitely not a fan of one of the losses in this book.

I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a good job.
