As the “mystery” unraveled, I found l liked my own ending better than the one on the page. Regardless, this book is transportive and passionate and elegantly written. Will continue to read this author’s work.

I did think the way the environment was talked about was strong throughout and the kind of grief tied to it. I did think the ending was strong albeit a bit unbelievable in the epilogue. I did not like the way this one handled the timelines much

I'm so bummed I didn't enjoy this more. The writing here is fantastic, as are the thematic and metaphorical conversations. However, I feel like Charlotte McConaghy got so wrapped up in creating a perfect metaphor--and to be fair, I think she succeeded--that she forgot to create 3-dimensional characters or... a cohesive plot.
