Good but I felt like this would have been better if we switched between Ennis and Franny’s point of view. I figured out what happened with Franny’s back story pretty quick so it was a let down to have to sit through her backstory.

This was excellent. Charlotte McConaghy knows how to write an attention-grabbing book. I was emotionally invested and cried a lot towards the end.
I did guess that her husband was dead and she was somehow involved with his death (although unintentional of course) so that wasn’t a huge reveal for me

This book is set in a fictional future where no animals remain. A future that isn’t hard to imagine at the pace this current world is going. It gave me Greenwood vibes and I was here for it. We follow Franny on a boat to Antarctica while chasing the Artic Terns final migration. Franny Stone has many secrets and it is unclear as you read if this is about looking for redemption or closure.

I listened to the audiobook and once again it was done beautifully and I was haunted by it but to me it failed to pulled me in as deeply as Wild Dark Shores did. Perhaps it’s because I was never sure how I actually felt about Franny but something was missing for me.
