I’m a fan of forbidden/taboo romances but Dani & Lachland were kind of just bland. I don’t understand what stoked any spark for them. There were no swooning moments and Dani is just gray. This book has received a lot of hype and I’m not too sure why. If anything, I’m team Ansel; he was the real star of the show lol
emotional fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: No

i had high hopes🫣

dani irritates the life out of me
the clinginess and immaturity of her i wanted to throat punch her,
and throat punch her supposed best friend sasha, best friends don’t treat you like shit i could decide which one of them i hated more

ansel carried this book on his bare fucking back!🙌 love him sm he was like the only character i liked

this book dragged and so many scenes were so repetitive i had to painfully push my self through this book what a start to 2025😭😭

Despite the prettiest of covers this was shite. Soo many good reviews duped me in to reading it. The characters were dull and boring. It was long, so so repetitive, and mundane. Every chapter what shall we uber eats for dinner? IDGAF. There was no chemistry or banter between the characters who were apparently in love. The fact the guidance counsellor took the V plates of a damaged, vulnerable, impressionable virgin with PTSD made me cringe so hard. The sex scenes were unbearable for this reason. It didn’t give me forbidden romance vibes just icky paedophile vibes. Why did a 29-year-old described as looking like Clark Kent/superman not date regularly and have friends?! I actually low key enjoyed the third act break up as I didn’t have to read the ridiculousness of their relationship. Waste of my time and I hate that I can’t DNF books especially ones the length of the bible. Ansel all day please.

First let me say, this cover is stunning, and I’m slightly obsessed with it. In this book we are dealing with some heavy topics and how those who survive or endure tragic events continue living their lives after such tragedy. At the beginning we are introduced to Dandelion aka Dani who is starting her life over at a new school and having to meet with a new counselor, but since the events she’s been through she is very doubtful her life will ever be the same nor will the counselor be able to help her out of her dark thoughts. I loved how the author brought the emotions and characters to life and we as readers could feel their pain, laughter, and all of it. Dani finds herself opening up more and more to her counselor because even if its wrong she is extremely attracted to him, yet she finds a comfort in him where she can be herself and tell him all her thoughts. The book is extremely detailed and at some points it was hard to push through the everyday mundane things but I promise if you do it will help you understand about Dani’s everyday life, but I think that it is that way to show us readers what it’s like inside someone else’s mind that has endured horrible things and still trying hard to live and not just go through the motions. Lachlan aka Mr. Taylor aka Dani’s counselor is an amazing character because he doesn’t want to fix Dani, he wants to help her, get to know her better, and figure out ways she can help herself live life again. He knows it is wrong to catch any feelings or feel the way he does about her so most of the book he stays away and fights any kind of inappropriate thoughts/feelings towards Dani, but things like that never work. As things become more and more complicated Dani still struggles with finding herself and what she wants out of life so after some things happen, she ventures out to find what she wants out of life. It takes some time but thigs work out as they are supposed to and these two find themselves and fate steps in and places them where they need to be at the right time.

I read so many negative reviews on this and I was expecting to hate it like most people, but IT WAS TOO GOOD TO BE HATED ON. this story is about Dandelion’s survival from losing her mom in a school shooting. The forbidden romance between her and her school counselor was just everything you would want from a forbidden romance. The slight slow burn between her and Lachlan was phenomenal . I enjoyed the side characters also. My heart really hurt for dandelion and sage.
Ansel and sage’s relationship was definitely amused me in many ways.
Lachlan was portrayed so perfectly for school counselor and he was always there for Dani. I loved him too much. Kinda want him for myself tbh

Lovely story.

Been putting this off in case it was over hyped and maybe it is. But I still enjoyed it.

Dandelions story was really sad but so well portrayed and didn’t get lost amongst the romance plot alongside it. I really felt like she found herself throughout this book.

It was a nice easy read

A depressed atmosphere or person doesn’t have to be bland. This book was bland and monotone. I was intrigued by the story idea but it was poorly executed.
