It was fine but... Naruto is a idiot, Sasuke is a jerk, and Sakura only wants to hook up with Sasuke. The only character that I like in this volume is Kakashi.

I've read manga before. This one just took too long to get into. I don't think it was until 1/2 before I got background info on the characters. I couldn't figure out what was going on.
But my kiddos love this series. Flies off the shelf.
Um. A few drawings of an almost naked woman.

Review for the series as a whole.
Teenage me loved this so much. And it's an incredible series to a point. That point pretty much being Pain arc which should have been if not the end at least the start of the end and ended 50 chapters not 300. If it ended like that it would have remained a special thing in my heart. As it is it'sa constant reminder of the disappointment of slowly drifting away from something I read every week as it became less and less compelling.
I think at that point Kishimoto was mostly bored of the series and I think the 4th ninja war was just bad fan service and the shift in style and obvious greater input from his assistants in the art. I think he was out and going through the motions at that point and it wouldn't surprise me if editors convinced him to do it because it would also let the anime have a lot of filler stuff to animate and it's the sort of thing that sounds like it's would be good but it just isn't.
Can't blame Kishimoto given the life ruiningly intense workload of a weekly mangaka for that though. Just wish he'd ended it sooner.
