You don't need me to tell you how good this book is. This is much more science heavy than Project Hail Mary, but still just SO good. Mark Watney is one of the most inspirational characters I've ever read. Nothing stops him, even when things seem hopeless. And despite the hopelessness of things, this book is also really funny at times. Just read it. The audiobook narrator is also fantastic.

Had a great time with this one. Mark Watney is a great protagonist, and the science, pacing and humor were all great.

4.5!! Would have liked a bit more resolution at the end but overall great book.

The story was interesting and I loved the science explanations. The one thing I found disappointing about this book was the register the author used for the main characters logs. It felt very simplistic (for me) and didn’t paint a sophisticated picture of a scientist (I get the feeling it was by design to make his character relatable to a wide audience). The prose was not particularly complex or well crafted so I found myself less engaged than I wanted to be. Overall a good book, but this may be one of the few instances where I liked the movie better.

Really like this author. His characters are funny and he does a good job incorporating real science which makes it even more entertaining.

Funny, suspenseful, and hard to stop reading. The science was over my head, of course, but I appreciated it all the same. Even knowing early on what the ending would ultimately be, I was still invested.
