I loved this!! Once again, I am floored by [a:Trisha Wolfe|4928927|Trisha Wolfe|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1616249503p2/4928927.jpg]'s writing. This woman is a brilliant lyricist, turning the even the most dark and disturbing into striking poetry. For such a small book, this packs a big punch.

Born, Darkly is part one of the Darkly, Madly duet; a psychological thriller with an unconventional romance that sparks between a serial killer and his psychologist. It is sick and twisted and I ate it up. This is a true psychopathic romance, so if you want love interests that wouldn't put the other in harm's way, this isn't for you. But if you want unhinged obsession, this is it.

Diving into [b:Born, Madly|36284679|Born, Madly (Darkly, Madly Duet, #2)|Trisha Wolfe|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1513359680l/36284679._SY75_.jpg|57947061]! I'll write a more detailed review for the duet as a whole when I'm done.

people really love recommending this in the romance Reddit board so I was psyched to read some trashy dark romance! I was hoping for campy fun dark romance ala The Mindfuck series but it was instead just really corny and honestly a lot more dull than I thought a romance about a criminal psychologist falling for her serial killer patient could be. I didn’t care about either character, the plot completely defied logic at least once a chapter, super cheesy dialogue (the killer unironically quotes Shakespeare to prove his MASSIVE intelligence to the audience at one point), and repetitive (did you know that Grayson is a huge burly hunk of a man who towers over petite pixie London and his huge beefy big man hands can wrap around her teensy tiny nonexistent waist?? I didn’t until I heard it for the fourth time.)

I was engaged enough that I forced myself to finish it but that’s also probably because it was so short. I’m glad other people enjoy this one, it’s definitely not something that worked for me personally.

It seems a bit Harley Quinn/Joker-like with a prison therapist falling for an inmate, but London is about as dark as Grayson is.

wow!

Ok, this was a crazy good story. I like the Saw vibe in it. It was well made. I can't wait to read the other one.

Holy moly this was a RIDE. Dark, disturbing & really well written, this is a dual POV psychological dark romance with Joker & Harley Quinn vibes and I’m here for it!

The characters are well fleshed out, their relationship is messed up but was so fun to read about
