I liked this! It was too short for my taste but I liked Maverick and Veronica, although I was more interested in Lily and Aspen.

“The pieces of my heart love the pieces of your heart. And I was wondering if, as we both fix ourselves, we could maybe mix our pieces together?”

Where do I start? I enjoyed the storyline of this book a lot and I absolutely love certain characters like Lily, Maverick, and even Aspen. However I realized my initial like for Veronica turned as she kept on with the self sabotage. I understand why, but I didn’t in the beginning. Maverick knows love but from a family/friendship perspective. However, Veronica knows the love of a partner and she’s lost that. I don’t want to spoil anything so I won’t get too far into that. But Veronica ms character made me want to bang my head against the wall with the way she punishes herself. The ending really was my favorite, partly because I was dying to see the growth and healing of these characters. Especially, Mavericks awareness that he can’t be the hero to fix everything. That really was the highlight of the book for me.
I really enjoyed The Consequence of loving me, even if it made me want to pull my hair out at parts (and really what good book doesn’t). Also sorry for anything grammatical errors, I’m writing this at 3 am.

4.5⭐️ I LOVED this! Veronica has a traumatic past that she’s running away from, and she is convinced she doesn’t deserve to be loved. Maverick has it all, including a girlfriend who he’s loved since they were kids. But his feelings for Veronica make him realize maybe he never knew love before. This was a sweet and heart wrenching story of a troubled girl and the boy that fights for her even when it seems like he shouldn’t. The only reason I didn’t give this a full 5 stars was I felt Veronica’s insecurities got to be a little annoying at times when it was so clear what she should do. But I felt ever feel in this one!

This is my first book by this author, and I enjoyed it for the most part.

I absolutely loved Maverick. I think I could've done without the Selma parts in the book, but I kind of understand why she had a place in here. I did struggle a little bit with that, though. However, he is exactly who Veronica needed.

Veronica was a little bit of a hot mess. I was pretty frustrated with her for a good bit because it was almost like she was trying to hard to be mean when you know she's not really like that deep down. But man towards the end of this book, the tears were flowing. That letter Maverick wrote broke my heart. Their speeches to one another towards the end, ugh, more tears.

It really flowed though and I couldn't put the book down. Excited to read about Aspen and Lily. And hopefully we get more with Veronica and Maverick.

I found Kat through her story Black Ties and White Lies and have read the stories she has written since that one and love them all so decided to read her previous work. Her writing has changed over the years but is still beautiful in a different way.

I am not typically one to care for a book with no spice but Maverick and Veronica had me wrapped into their world. Their love took time to build but it was healing and beautiful.

I absolutely love how Kat did not make Maverick a knight in shining armor. His encouragement for Veronica to work on herself and to forgive herself was so powerful.

For anyone reading this review who has not read the story please do so! And have tissues on hand!

WOW! This cover is gorgeous which one of the reasons why i was intrigued with this book. But the story was just so good! It didn’t take that long to get into this book maybe into chapter 2 or 3. It had me upset that i had to go to work instead of reading this book. The beginning of the book wasn’t what I was expecting especially with how Veronica was now thrown into the mix of things.

Veronica and Maverick were both people had troubled past one way or another. Yet, Veronica suffered much more than Maverick had intended. And theres something about Veronica that Maverick feels compelled to help her get to the person she knows she hides to be. Yes, Maverick has the hero tendency of wanting to save and protect everyone around him but he’s more than that. and i think thats what I loved reading about in his POV. He’s been the hero all his life yet with Veronica its different type of saving he does.

With Veronica she is just such a strong character and has definitely built a strong wall that she has promised not to let down. But again, with Maverick its different and she feels compelled to be friends with him and confide in which she hasn’t done in a long time. Each chapter you see her walls coming down for Maverick but also for the people who surround her.

Yes, this book is about love but much deeper of love, and what it truly means to be in love and the things one would sacrifice when someone does love someone.
