NO! That is what I actually cried, out loud, at 3 am when I finished this book. Cameo, Cameo, Cameo! How could you do this to me?
I was so excited to be invited to read Cameo Renae's new book, Hidden Wings.I loved her debut book, In My Dreams. When you write an excellent book your first time out, it can be difficult to follow it up. Hidden Wings surpassed In My Dreams. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. I am in awe of Cameo Renae's talent.
Emma is 17. She wakes up in the hospital to find her entire world turned upside down. Both of her parents died in the accident that put her in the hospital, custody has been granted to an aunt she did not know existed, she is moving to Alaska (a good thing but I am biased about that) and leaving behind, in California, her two best friends. Escorts come to get her for the trip to Ak and she is attacked by Darklings, creatures she did know existed, in the SeaTac airport. Then she finds out they have been sent to kill her. Talk about a bad day! That is just the beginning. There is so much action packed into this book that I found myself having to take small breaks just to breathe! There is also a bit of romance in this awesome fantasy. The cliffhanger will absolutely leave you wanting more.
Cameo has done a terrific job with her writing. You get to know her characters and they become your friends. I was able to envision the fight scenes and the settings were vividly written.
The book contains mild swearing but it is only once that I can recall. There are no scenes of a sexual nature. The romance written is suitable for teens. I highly recommend this book to all fans of YA fantasy
I received an ARC of Hidden Wings for review. No promises were made except to give an honest review of my opinion of the book. I received no compensation for this review.

Hidden Wings started out great for me. Emma was in a car accident and she was the only survivor. She found out she had an Aunt living in Alaska who wanted her to come and live with her. And then things went rapidly downhill for me.
Emma pissed me off so freaking much it was unreal. Her parents had just died and she'd been left alone, but the second a hot guy enters the picture she pretty much forgets all of this and only thinks about it every other chapter. I mean, COME ON! How is that realistic?! If my parents died in a car crash and I survived, I'd be a complete wreck! No hot guy would be able to distract me from that pain, so I just couldn't take her seriously. She was so damn naive and stupid and I wanted to hit her so bad.
Enter Kade. The extremely hot guy who makes Emma's knees weak and makes her forget her parents just died. Excuse me while I vomit. Kade was a nice enough guy, but that whole insta-love thing bugged me so much, Before they'd even met Emma was having reactions to his presence. When they touched there was electricity, they wanted to jump each other every time they touched or were near each other and it just made me laugh. How am I supposed to take that seriously? Really?
The storyline was ridiculous and I'll put my hand up and admit that I skim read the last 50% because I really couldn't be bothered anymore. There were some extremely predictable twists that I'd guessed pretty much as soon as Emma arrived in Alaska but they weren't revealed until the end. Emma and Kade's relationship got even more ridiculous and I just couldn't take it anymore.
If it wasn't for the fact that I'm trying to catch up on my Netgalley books and that I'm determined to finish them all, I would have DNF'd this book. It was that bad.
Overall, this book definitely wasn't my cup of tea. I couldn't deal with the cheesy insta-love and the extremely predictable plot. I definitely won't be continuing with this series.

Boring. Annoying protagonist. Badly written. The story was ok but it was really distracting that every other word was "super."

So many emotional feels!!!! This book is a roller coaster ride of terror, destruction, mayhem, awesomeness, and epic adventure!! But if I were Emma, surrounded by the total chaos of the Fallen and the Darkling, I would take it in total coolness and stride because she's surrounded by the best of the best of the best of the Guardians. But I bet she feels like she got put into a glass and someone just started shaking it for fun to see how much she could handle. And every now and again they set the glass down so she could see all the pretty Angels smile. But then, oh yup, time to start shaking the glass again!! No handle to hold onto!! Her world went from pretty normal, to pretty messed up (but dang pretty) in no time flat. But I bet she's not complaining what with a guy like Kade hanging around all the time!! Haha Seriously though, this book is amazing. I'm reading the box set, which I HIGHLY recommend you purchase as it comes with the bonus novella you won't want to miss. Read Hidden Wings and join me on my Angelic adventure!! :D
Looking back on this its more of a 2.5⭐️ for me.
Although I did enjoy it there was faults and it needed more development character and plot and it all did go a little too fast paced for me and I'm probably not going to read the next books especially after reading reviews and the synopsis for them, I just lost interest and he potential love triangle I read that will probs happen in books 2 and 3 from the reviews I read.. Eh please. No thanks. It was a good first book though it did have its faults,
All in all I did seriously enjoy this first book and it has potential. And someone else may like it depending what you want in a book I suppose and what you enjoy reading and what irritates you haha.
My original review. Which I still stand by but now I have obviously new thoughts haha, but at the time this is how I felt when I hadn't read other reviews and synopsis of the next books :p
I loved this and read it in like 2 hours I flew through it and that ending!! I want more now! Such a fast paced book and I personally loved the characters and can't wait to see more of them! The character development and story development did move a little fast and could've slowed down a little or had a bigger book so that it didn't feel as rushed, but overall I really enjoyed this story and the main character was actually one of my fav main characters I've read in a while because she wasn't dumb and she thought things through most times and is smart at one point she says something like "I'm going to tell someone about what just happened because I don't want to be one of those girls who keep it hidden and it bites them in the ass" not even close to the actual quote but you get the jest of it ;) she doesn't want to be one of those other girls we usually see in books where they keep secrets because they think it's a good idea when we all know it ain't a good idea at all haha. Anyways made

Love itt!! Action romance family issues, what more could you want?
The story is good, even if it is fairly predictable. The real issue is the writing, it’s pretty bad. The dialogue is awkward and clunky. The whole thing reads like a 12 year old wrote it, and a dumb one too. “Lia turned to me. Her cheeks were blushed in bright pink, and her Asian eyes were the widest I’ve seen them”. Oh wow, even her Asian eyes widened, that’s how attractive this guy was. Is this author serious?? The phrase is used more than once, and is the only description we get for Lia’s appearance, unless you also count turquoise glasses to replace her broken pink ones, a random fact that was included and really nails in the “weird girl in the 2000s” aesthetic the character is given.
All of the descriptions fall flat. The characters, the scenery, the emotions, are all just 2D. I wouldn’t recommend this book to anyone, I’m glad it’s free so I didn’t have to waste my money on it.

Absolutely loved this book! I like all of the characters and of course the angels. I would highly recommend this book if you are a fan of fantasy and some YA romance.
