Adie Lou Kruger is at a crossroads in her life, in the process of finalizing her divorce from her unsupportive, cheating husband she decides to renovate her parents Summer Cottage into a B&B, Adie Lou’s journey while making this life changing decisions is more than her drive from Chicago to Lake Michigan.
Adie Lou will touch you with her determination, kindness and her will to change her life to be happy while honoring her family.
I enjoyed this story and the unique perspective of following the rules while reading. The character description was brilliant and the self journey of Adie Lou was enjoyable to follow.

Very sweet book that I breezed through. It was refreshing to see a romance without all the drama and angst that usually accompanies such stories. Great beach read!
A beautiful story of family and tradition.
The book begins with Adie Lou and her husband and son visiting her parents in their summer cottage. Their family is so loving and their traditions adorable. Her husband only reluctantly goes along with everything.
But the cottage means so much to Adie. Every summer, her family spent the season there together. Even as an adult, Adie goes home to spend the summer months with her family.
So, it is sad and a bit jarring that everything is changed by chapter two. It’s present day. Adie is getting divorced, her son is in college and her parents are gone. She’s even in the process of selling their cottage.
I really missed her parents!
When Adie decides not to sell the cottage, she decides to turn it into a B&B.
She uproots her whole life. She realizes she’s in over her head. But it still makes more sense than selling the cottage.
I was relieved by how present Adie ‘s parents felt in the cottage. They were gone, yes, but it felt like they were still there. Adie still found little bits and pieces to remember them by. I loved that.
There were two little relics found in the cottage that belonged to previous tenants. I thought those storylines would turn into more than they did. But this is a story about Adie and her family and their traditions. It’s about her strength and starting over. That was the focus.
I loved the character of her son Evan. He already appreciates the importance of family.
The end had me tearing up.

two major qualms with this book:
- it was like an amalgamation of too many other books I've read recently - can't be helped, just made it harder for me to get through, so I won't hold it against this book. however, something I will hold against this book is
- the weird underlying girlboss/female empowerment thing that I am already not a huge fan of (always feels too forced - what happened to SHOW don't TELL) but felt so much weirder in a book that was written by a man under a female pseudonym
it was fine. I'd consider it a light read even though it took me so long to get through (see bullet #1). would maybe read more of his books idk tho
A sweet, easy, beach read. I loved the cottage rules and wish the B and B actually existed.

I didn't feel particularly connected to the characters nor were there really any turns or twists.
Have you ever read a book and wanted to instantly be in the book? To be friends with the characters and have a house just like there’s?.
.
Well, this book did just that! I instantly fell in love with it. And I now officially want a Summer Cottage! .
The book focuses on the importance of family, making memories yet not forgetting the old ones, and living life to the fullest.
.
We follow the main character Adie Lou as she discovers her true self in her search for happiness. Making the decision to restore her family’s summer cottage and make her parents proud will force her to come to terms with life’s events.
.
The writing style was easy to follow and I felt it flowed perfectly. No moments of who’s who or who’s saying what. Great characters that are easily relatable. I had all the feels while reading this book. I laughed, I cried (just a tear or two), I felt happiness and sorrow. Such an easy read, I would have finished it in one day if I didn’t have to stop to go to a family dinner.
