Brought back all the best memories of spending summer vacations at our family cottage. Well written and I love that each section revolves around one of the cottage rules.... although I will say, a cottage with three floors doesn’t sound so cozy but more like a lakeside mansion!
The end of this book kind of dragged for me. I’m not sure why. And I loved all the female empowerment, but I felt like Adie Lou’s dialogue with herself (and some of the other dialogue in general) was really unnatural. But I truly loved the setting and all the Michigan details. As a native Michigander, I couldn’t wait to pick this book up and it did not disappoint in reminding me of home. I need a weekend on the shore in a cute little cottage ASAP. I really loved all the family touches, too. Shipman is obviously a sentimental person and that really touched my heart. I will definitely be picking up more of their books.
A feel-good story, perfect for summer. When I got to the last line, I simply smiled. If you’re looking for a good beach read that’s more than fluff, look no further.
Edit: Read it a second time as my book club pick and I love it just as much as the first time. Heart warming with just enough solid truth to keep you grounded and keep it from being "too" Hallmark. Forever one of my favorites ❤️
What an amazing book! One of the few books that I enjoyed cover to cover. If you want a good feeling, makes you smile all the way thru, I recommend adding this book to your reading list. I will absolutely be picking up another book by Viola Shipman again.

What a perfect summer read. The characters are rich, the scene-setting divine, and I can't stop searching for the perfect BnB in Saugatuck so I can recreate the rules of the Summer Cottage.
To satisfy one of the 2024 Reading Challenges, in April 2024 you are to read a book by an author using a pen name!
Nice story. A little cheesy and predictable. Anyone under 40 might not relate to the characters in the book. But overall sometimes you need an easy read where all the problems just work out in the end.
This was such a delightful summer book to read. The storyline had some depth, yet I knew who the love interest was right away. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
