Read this after I handed in my notice on my current job and am looking for something else. Trying to make sure whatever I do next I am happy with it and I own that decision. This book gave structure to my thoughts and was helpful.

I was disappointed in this book, given all the positive reviews I’ve seen. I much prefer The Gift of a Year by Mira Kirshenbaum for New Year’s reading. It seems deeper  somehow, more personal, not as dated, and it still inspires me every time I read it.

This book was first published in 1994, so there isn’t a lot new here if you’ve read other productivity and self improvement books in the meantime. In fact, the author borrows heavily from The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, which was published even earlier. (She uses the Eisenhower Matrix but gives it another name.) If you’ve also read David Allen or had any exposure to Franklin Covey planners, you really don’t need this book.

I will be adding one part of Ditzler’s method to my annual review routine. That is, creating a list of guidelines to follow in the coming year, based on what you’ve learned from the past year’s accomplishments and disappointments.

I've used this book many years running to organize my thoughts for the coming year. I found it to be very useful.

I did this half hartedly last year and didnt get great results. this time I put in gthe effort read it cover to cocver and did a good long workshop session and figured out what I want.
I now have 10 goals I am excited about. and a plan to dramatically. improve my life. not taht my life is bad. teh good outweighs the bad but the few really bad things in my life I can now see being resolved.

whether I reach my goals remains to be seen though

I tried four separate times to read this book, but felt like it said nothing.

Great book for guidance on how to not just create goals but plan steps on how to achieve them.
