I can see why it has become a classic and it definitely feels like one to revisit (helped by its short length). The style is engaging, the arguments compelling, and the reference to popular culture unrestrained. Fisher demonstrates that critical theorists don't have to be boring.
I've taken a star off due to the lack of footnotes or bibliography, this was a continual frustration for me throughout.

This book is fantastic. It’s only around 80 pages so I highly recommend it. He does use some phrases regarding the past historical socialist tradition which might leave some confused. I get what he was playing at, but I’m not sure it holds up. Apart from that, Fisher creates a beautiful book. Films were expertly weaved into the text. So thankful I took the time to read this. The world could benefit from Fisher’s mind right now. May he Rest In Peace.

So I think I learned that I don't like continental philosophy.
Overall the book gave me plenty to think about and I definitely learned some things, but I truly dislike this kind of writing. Feels very self-aggrandizing. I loathe the usage of mental health terms to diagnose systems such as capitalism. And I mean my man spoiled tens of films throughout the book lol.
Also it's meaningless to have a back cover blurb saying the book is genius by an author the book quotes every other page. In a way this captures the notion I had while reading: this exists to justify itself.

si merita cinque stelle ma ne do quattro come reminder per il me del futuro di rileggerlo quando avrò le competenze necessarie a capirlo meglio.

Although it brings up interesting points, it is too obtuse. It could have been written way easier.

Absolutely phenomenal work. I cannot recall the last time reading through a book left me this angry and depressed. Diagnoses the illness of our time with absolutely clinical precision and leaves not a single stone unturned. Proceed at your own risk, not for the faint-hearted.
