I loved this book. Learning about the Mexico’s politics in 1970s (even if it was dramatized) was fascinating. I was endeared to the character Elvis and really enjoyed his character growth. And, while I didn’t love the character, Maite, I really loved her story line. A fascinating read that I would recommend to everyone because it has a bit of everything: romance, adventure, and murder!

The writing could be better, but the plot completely sucked me in. I devoured this book in just a few days when I was on vacation.

unfortunately this just didn’t click for me. all the elements were there — i love a mystery, i love stuff set in the 70s, i love all the music references, but the plot just never seemed to go anywhere. i don’t mind a slow burn mystery/thriller but the pay off has to be worth the build up and this just wasn’t. i struggled to connect with the two main characters and i think maybe their paths should’ve crossed a lot more than they did since i spent the first half wondering why there was a dual pov of unrelated characters.
