This series... wow. I loved it from start to finish, but the finish was spectacular. It was so emotional to finish the arcs of characters I feel like I've known for ages and who really had my heart. This whole series was an incredible exploration of some of the most fascinating human questions and foibles, like how divergent cultures merge, how to heal deep injustices, the role of the state and a sovereign, how cultures develop over time and the geographical and cosmological factors that shape culture, and our obligations to each other and to remember. To do this so well, Ken Liu had to build an incredibly rich and textured world. I loved every bit of his created mythology, technology, and philosophy. Even when I skimmed the mechanical descriptions... I just loved that it all felt so very real. I'll read anything Ken Liu writes!!! If Ken Liu has no fans, I'm dead!

Really enjoyed the focus on knowledge a d ways of knowing explored through the series. It ended up being an exploration of culture and its formation/evolution and the ways we can come to value and understand eachother. It end without an answer but hope and that is enough.

De visie van Ken Liu voor deze serie is van ongekende scope. Het is echt allesomvattend. Een literaire discussie van Cultuur, hoe we verhalen vertellen, de prijs van vrijheid, en het rechtvaardigen van geweld, tot de filosofie van regeren, hoe weet je wat juist is, algemene levensfilosofie, de rol van technologie op de wereld, de rol van geloof/mythen en legendes, leidt het allemaal ergens naartoe? en nog veel meer. De ontwikkeling die Thera en de scrublands doormaakt in Ukye-Gonde en het conflict dat zich afspeelt in Dara. van het contrast tussen Phyro enJia en de chaos op Ukye-Thase tussen Tanvanaki Cutanrovo Goztan en Timu, tot de rol die Fara en Kinri spelen in hun zelfontdekking en later op het grote toneel. Vanaf de opkomst van Kuni Garu en Mata zyndu tot de samensmelting van de Lyucu en Dara en de nieuwe zaadjes die zijn gelegd in Ukye-Gonde. De hervormingen die de wereld doormaakt zijn meesterlijk in elkaar gewoven om het verhaal van de mensheid te vertellenHet is allemaal meesterlijk in elkaar gewoven om het verhaal van de mensheid te vertellen. Daarnaast zit het ook bomvol met actie en simpelweg veel leuke momenten/personages. Speaking bones is een waardig einde van een groots verhaal.

Such a fantastic finale of what can only be called an epic story. Such a fantastic world, an large amazing cast of characters, a plot that ebbs and flows with action, politics, drama, and the human experience.
This is easily one of the finest series I have ever read, and it deserves a place among the all time greats.

Such a worthy conclusion to an amazing series. Towards the end, I was eking it out slowly, not wanting it to be over. Each character's resolution had their part in the themes of the series, and the ending was a heartwarming surprise that made me tear up a little. Best series I have ever read.
This series as a whole is one of my all time favourites. I'm not usually too fussed about prose and shit but this series is also very well-written. It's crazy to think about where this whole thing started with Kuni Garu and his friends to where it ended. There are a lot of good characters. Such a sick series man.
For most of this book I was saying fuck Jia. I had a good idea of what she was plotting. But like it says on her tombstone at the end, love makes us do terrible things.
I enjoyed the bits of humour throughout this series.
RIP to so many good characters man. Phyro, Takval, Thoryo, even Tanvanaki and a lot of others. And my boy Puma Yemu finally returned!
And the most deserved death probably in this whole series was Noda Mi. Fuck that piece of shit man. That shit was so satisfying to read. Goztan is one of my favourite characters.
The ending was really sad and really good. I didn't expect Lutho to return!
