Can you like the second book more than the first? How can this book series be getting better? On the second installment of The Coldest Fae, we see our FMC developing and discovering things about herself. We can see her slowly building friendships and start trusting more. We can also see her developing steamy feelings for a certain prince, but things are still "not quite right" with this "relationship". At the end of this book we can see her transform into something else, becoming a bit of an bada$$ and going after what she really wants. In this book you will see magic, fighting, bullying and a really steamy situation. This is all for now, see you on book 3- Marked!!

This is a fun, well flowing series that hits all the right notes, and imbues plenty of humor along the way. The way she interacts with Mira and the other contestants alone is hysterical well worth the read.

Continuing on with the Coldest Fae series by Katerina Martinez, book 2, Stolen, answered a lot of my burning questions from book one. However, I felt it revealed too much of the mystery all at once.

What I loved:
❄ The supporting characters and how their loyalties are starting to change the more time they spend with Dahlia. I loved that Melina wasn’t as dense as Dahlia was led to believe and I hope we can see more of her character in book 3
❄ The world building and the way the trials from book one are progressing. Although, I would have loved to see a little bit more intelligence from the heroine in regards to training and not getting drunk prior to trials
❄ Favorite quote: “’I could have you locked up in my quarters,’ he said.
‘For what crime?’ I asked. ‘I wouldn’t need a reason.’ ‘I see. And what would you do to me in your quarters?’ he leaned a little closer to my ear. ‘I would shackle you to my bed, and tear that dress off with my teeth.’”

What I wasn’t as much a fan of:
❄ The mystery of the prince’s mood swings and the monsters getting closer to the castle was “solved” too quickly. I would have loved more hints and tastes of what was going on rather than just an outright reveal. Rather than having the prince look in the mirror and state what was happening, I would have loved only Dahlia seeing the shadow surrounding the prince and trying to piece it together herself
❄ The fact that her best friend, the pixie, acknowledge the glamor was REMOVED on day one and not placed. One would think that the pixie that has been by Dahlia’s side for years would have either told her that she was fae or would have been more shocked by the revelation….it just felt odd
❄ Dahlia’s mood swings and almost lack of common sense. If someone was bullying me and constantly framing me for damaging property & killing people, I would certainly not take the fall for them. This is a deadly competition, and I would not give anyone a free pass. Also, that spicy scene came out of nowhere…maybe it can be explained because she is coming into her fae blood but that needed more of a buildup to seem more organic

I enjoyed this more than I did book 1... more action and more revelations. It started right where book 1 ended which was a pleasant surprise. Suspicions in book 1 were kind of confirmed but more secrets and questions arose in book 2... let's see what book 3 brings!
