Kell's journey was an exciting one that's for sure! I enjoyed the quest itself, as well as the whole religious/political intrigue.
Willow was undoubtedly my favourite (mainly due to the mystery surrounding her) she was a different breed of badass! Whereas the rest of the characters I felt could have done with some more development. Sometimes they just came off a little 2D.
The battles with the various vicious, dangerous beasts the heroes encountered on the ice along the way were well written but a little repetitive. However that last one was a nail biter!
While the premise was spot on, I think the execution was just slightly lacking. Kell seemed to change his mind from 'coward' to 'hero' pretty quickly and to be fair, I was expecting a much more reluctant hero type than what we got. But I liked him nonetheless!
Lastly, only a small thing, I did notice quite a few typos (misspelt words as well as words being in the wrong order or sometimes forgotten completely)... I guess that's more of an editing note.

Some original ideas mixed with clichés. The story line is very straightforward, and could have used some creativity. The side story with an antagonist had very little impact on the main story, but will probably grow bigger later. still, it didn't make this book any better.
