Read this with Eri and that only enhanced this book for me. Really miss the South--being a Southern Queer is so different and valuable and complex and this book touched on those emotions and so many more. I'm thankful for it.

Every person in America should read this book and reflect on how the legislature of a state does not always represent their citizens very well. LOVE the overarching theme of friendship and progress being what makes the South so special. LGBT+ 'utopias' like LA and NYC don't have the bond of a constant fight, and some people have gotten complacent. Leaves off with a good warning for Atlanta to not fall in that trend. Makes me wish I had a queer mentor/mentee program to be a part of.

A great quick read that will ground you when you’re feeling adrift! It’s a poignant portrait of those forgotten in the broader queer story.
