It was too quick and accelerated, but it was a good story.
Going into this book I was thinking here we go another human trafficking/captive book it NEARLY put me off reading it...but I'm so glad I decided what the hell and read it! This book is very unique and has a few twists that I didn't see coming. It's so well done and definitely different to other books like this. I loved it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Molly McAdams never disappoints! This may be pary of a series but they are all standalones. I wasn't sure at first if I would like the direction it was going. It deals with Human Trafficking which is pretty taboo. But it turned in a way I didn't expect. It was hard to put down and I loved every second.
OH MY GOODNESS! Molly McAdams has done it again! I was a bit apprehensive when I read the description for this book. I didn't know if I could handle the selling of women. But this one was different.
Briar intrigued me...with a love for her fiancé so deep and the "voice of an angel".
"Lucas" intrigued me...with his heart of gold and devil-like nature.
I knew I was going to fall in love with Briar's buyer. It was in the way he carried himself. He tried not to care. But he failed. He tried not to fall in love with her. But he failed.
But then the twist of all twists!! Molly McAdams has a way of intertwining storylines from previous books so seamlessly. When "Lucas" mentioned taking a previous girl and falling in love with her, I had a hunch of who it was. It was only when he sent the postcard and a gift that it finally clicked.
It's not really recommended that you read another series before this book. But to truly understand who "Lucas" is, you HAVE to read the 'Forgiving Lies' series. When his true identity is revealed, it will have gasping with tears in your eyes.

I have been a fan of Molly McAdams for a few years now. I have read all of her books. When a new one comes out I'm so excited to get my hands on it.
Blackbird is not like anything Molly McAdams has written before. She covers a subject that is not often spoken about but we all know it's happening.
For the first few chapters of the book I honestly thought of the movie Kiss the Girls. Scenes from the movie kept flashing through my mind. Then as I went further into the story I stopped thinking of that movie and started really seeing these characters and their story.
Even though this book has a darker side to it. It is still a beautiful love story.
Briar has a mind set that I think most of us have which is you hear about these things happening around the world and you think oh that will never happen to me. Then it does happen to Briar. And she is in for a world wind of what to do and how to survive. And she also starts discovering who she is in the midst of it all.
Lucas is dark and scary and yet there is something about him that you are drawn to from the moment you meet him.
This is definitely a piece of work you do not want to miss from Molly McAdams! I'm thrilled for more of this series. This is a side of Molly we haven't seen and it just goes to show she can probably write just about anything and it still be amazing and captures her fans and I'm sure this book will bring in a new set of fans as well.

Kinda in between a 3 and 4. I'll probably read the next one, the summary looks very promising lol
I don't really know if I really like this Stockholm syndrome thing
