This was just wonderful. Rhysand was my favourite character from the first book and I just couldn’t love him more after this book. And Azriel — oh Azriel has my whole heart. It was a wild ride I’m so happy I took!

Wow. Sometimes you finish a book and you're left staring into the distance in disbelief, and this sure was one of those.

A whole new cast of painfully lovable characters, a new court that makes spring court feel incredibly lacking, and more spice in one chapter than all of the first book (though don't expect anything too spicy - this is a nice beginner spice series so far).

I thought ACOTAR was fine, but ACOMAF blows it out of the park. If you weren't sure about ACOTAR, give this one a chance to win you over.

It already seems like this series is going to be dragged out I fear. Also why does she describe every noise as a hiss? The dress hissed on the floor, someone hisses in pain… every thing is hissing. Please find a new word for the love of god. Also if you listen to the audiobooks they change the pronunciation of multiple words to HORRIBLE alternatives. It’s the same voice actor but she butchers her pronunciation of multiple repeat words.

I think that the heteronormative system that sjm establishes just really got in the way of me enjoying the book. I didn’t really expect it in a fae setting (why establish sexism in a world you made up if you’re not going to engage with it critically??) Also it feels a little weird to me that sjm portrays the fae as a relatively sexually liberated society, yet “whore” carries such weight as an insult. Again, it could be interesting if she engages with it critically but it just seems a little shallow as is. Having read two of the books now, the books are really starting to lack tension/stakes for me. Everything always goes right for Feyre and none of the relationships have any chance to build (there’s potential for more tension in the relationships, but the potential is ultimately wasted). Any “tension” is based on silly miscommunications which honestly made me dislike the characters more. I’m begging sjm to let her characters have flaws!! Like how are they all perfect? It’s boring!
