Thank goodness this one was so much better (in my opinion) than the first. Everyone who had read this series before me (which, let's be honest, was nearly everyone) warned me the first book was something to get through in order to get to the rest of the series and I'm so glad I did. The romance? A million times better (and hotter) - without spoiling anything, this aspect of the first one just didn't do it for me. The cast of characters? Incomparably more compelling. And the worldbuilding? On point. Definitely a brutal book in parts but hard to put down nonetheless. I am officially joining the chorus: If you didn't like the first book...don't give up just yet.

Genuinely enjoyed the first book but had to get through a lot of world building so it was slower. This book however had me completely captivated and was so well thought out.
