Starts out like a typical uni vampire romance. Bit of intrigue, very tropy with the bonded one stuff. But it's just not so slowly becoming a Wattpad story. As an Ao3 girl, I just need a bit more substance to my revenge plots you know?

Oh my god! I loved this book so much!
It was a little bit faster than I would have liked but was still amazing. Such strong Edward and Bella vibes but in the best way and much less cringe.

This book had one of the best “ Who did this to you” I’ve ever read. I read the line, squeezed my thighs together, threw the book, screamed into my pillow and blacked out because omg ahhhhhhhh it was so fucking good!

Highly recommend if you are looking for a fast paced Vampire romance.

This book was not for me, I’ll start with that. It wasn’t a BAD book, I enjoyed it and I was curious enough to see it through even though it’s not my usual style.
Hunter was a hottie and a baddie and I’d like to see more of Cora!
It was a hot, spicy, grown up version of twilight, minus the werewolves.
I’m here for the “who did this to you” and “touch her and die”

this book was quite different to what i had expected when i picked it but i managed to finish it in 8 hours lol <33

was also very interesting to find that this story is set in australia (my assumption is somewhere in victoria) bc this is probably the last country you would expect vamps to be LOL

i definitely wasn't expecting things to get hot n heavy so quickly between our mcs !! i am definitely NOT complaining though.

an issue i had with this book was a small thing with the writing - a lot of dialogue felt rlly stiff to me, mostly because of instances where "i am" was constantly used rather than "i'm". so obviously not too much of a problem but it did bother me a bit at times :')) that might just be me being picky lmao
personally i also didn't feel too connected to the story/characters but maybe it's because i went in with certain expectations reading this book!

regardless, it was fun to read raya and hunter absolutely pine for each other !! i have been craving a human x vampire story - blood-sucking and all - and this definitely scratched that itch like omggg

now to find more spicy vamp books heheh

If you want a fun, urban fantasy, spicy vampire read that gives you the vibes of CW’s The Vampire Diaries - then this is a story for you!

We follow Raya, our FMC who is searching for answers on the mysterious disappearance of her sister one year prior. She moves towns and enrols in University hoping to find answers. We also follow Hunter, the Stefan-esque MMC - a reluctant vampire who just wants to be better than the stories suggest. His world is changed when the new girl in town sits next to him in class and offers to be his notes buddy.

I won’t spoil anything, but suffice to say there is a situation that results in some forced proximity and a whole bunch of angstiness.

The top praise I have for this book was that it draws you in immediately with the mystery presented for both characters. The characters are all extremely likeable too which makes reading them a pleasure.

I found the pacing of the story to be a little inconsistent at times, with some things happening way faster than I expected or was probably required. I also found some of the dialogue between the two MC’s to feel a little YA at times.

All in all it was an enjoyable read, especially considering it was the authors first dabble into the fantasy realm of writing! Get me a man who looks after me the way Hunter looks after Raya please

I really liked it don’t get me wrong and the fact that it was set in Australia made my heart sing but the motivations for the characters relied on foreshadowing and they didn’t make sense to me. In saying that Lauren KNOWS how to write a steamy scene so for that reason i will absolutely be keeping up with her writing journey 🫶🏻
