I truly haven't read the entire book cover to cover, it's not that kind of book. But I have used it extensively to the point where I know what a valuable tool it is. Afoot and Afield in San Diego County has long been considered "the Bible" of local hiking books (and there are a LOT of them). This long awaited edition did not disappoint. Trail descriptions are updated and accurate. The most useful part for me is the front charts that allow you to compare various trail elements: distance, difficulty, geographical area, and especially whether dogs are allowed. I have been working my way through the dog hikes and hope to get to all of them. So, I can also use this guide for goal setting as well. Fantastic updated version of a classic.
