I grudgingly give this a 3 star rating. I give the author props for coming up with a different type of horror story. I also feel he is a good writer. My only real problem with this book is it was so unbelievable and ridiculous that I was surprised he found a way to make it as long as it was. I think this could have been a short story.
The action was good and the horrible way the people killed others was satisfyingly well done. But, I just could not get with the clothing becoming alive and killing. I think I would have liked it more if he kept the idea of the clothes having ghost in them but only being activated when they are worn rather than them actually going around killing people with out physical bodies.
Overall, I think he did find a way of justifying what was happening in the end, though I still felt it was a silly book.

This book has me clutching at my legs in pain at parts (iykyk) and just gagging at others. The end was utter chaos and bloodshed, but I mainly enjoyed the horribly graphic deaths that happened in the beginning with the individuals. And that final chapter had me laughing out loud cause no shit that was going to happen lol
Graphic: Body horror, Child death, Gore, Suicidal thoughts, Suicide, Torture, Violence, Blood, Cannibalism, Murder, and Injury/Injury detail
Moderate: Animal death, Drug use, Pedophilia, Racism, Sexism, Sexual violence, Xenophobia, Islamophobia, and Religious bigotry

This feels like an evil version of The Pale Green Pants by Dr. Seuss, but much worse. It had me hooked for a little bit, but the premise was too silly to be scared of. Not only that, but I found this to be a bit of a slog to get through towards the end.

I have been out of the reading game for a while and decided to try something different. I don't read much crime or horror and Graham Masterton was new to me as an author but it sounded interesting. People are being killed but it's not them, it's something to do with the clothes? Sure I'll give that a go.
Well I completely devoured this book. I didn't want to put it down. The characters were interesting, the graphics were pretty graphic, and as for the overall feel? I loved it. It had quite the opening chapter. The only thing that let it down for me was the ending. It was a bit like... wait, what? What's happening? Not the very final bit but the sort of main end part. If you read it you'll see what I mean. It would give a bit too much away.
I can't decide which of the characters I like best but the events made me shiver and I can't wait to read the next in the series and see what happens with Patel and Pardoe. If it's as good as this one I'll be reading them all.

I'm going to leave this book unrated because I liked the idea of it but it went on a bit too long. And about half way through I thought "a flamethrower might be a good idea about now" but alas, the author chose an "evil dead" Ash type solution.
I have the other two books in this series but I'm going to take a break from Tooting for now.
