This book was an emotional rollercoaster. As it started to get closer to the end, I started to wonder if there was too much going on? If that's even possible. Nevertheless, I was glad to see some characters have some movement *cough* Daenerys *cough*.
I felt wronged by how some of my favorite characters were treated. But I have a very different notion of villains then other people would. I like to think that there's good and bad in most characters, it's what makes them human. I really grew to like Jorah and Sandor during this book, they are easily some of my favorites, I hope I haven't seen all I can of them. All in all, looking forward to the next book.

It has been a few months since I read this, so this review is going to be a bit foggy.

I was surprised to like Jaime Lannister. His chapters were always a pleasure to read and kept me fully engaged the entire time. Brienne is also a favorite, and their budding relationship was fascinating to watch.

I still like Jon Snow, but there were some points that I wasn't very interested in his storyline. The big battle on The Wall was cool though.

I still like Tyrion as well, but again his sections didn't always keep me captivated like in previous books.

Sansa grew on me even more in the book and I've really enjoyed her character growth from book to book. I liked how her story wasn't just more of the same.

The same can't be said for Arya. Her story stagnated in this book, and though the events involving the Hound did spike my interest at the end, the majority of her sections were nothing special.

Catelyn remained one of my least favorite narrators. I don't dislike the character, but the sections with her as the narrator provide little excitement.

Bran was once a favorite, but now I dread his chapters. I don't even remember his plot in this book, that's how bad it was.

I like Samwell, but his chapters all ran together and I definitely could have done with less of him.

I couldn't muster up any interest in the Davos chapters. I always feel like Stannis would have made a better narrator since Davos is basically our window into his side of the story.

Don't get me started on Daenerys. If there was a book about just her, I wouldn't read it. I lost interest in her story completely last book, so having to plod my way through more of the same this book was laborious.

Overall, I'm still engaged in the story and fascinated by the world Martin has created, but there are some characters that I wish he would kill off sooner than later!

Sooo much more action. We finally see Wildlings and Whitewalkers, however brief it may be. We get a lot more backstory of things that happened before the first book so that helps a lot. It made me happy Tyrion gets some revenge! Also that ending was awesome, why they didn’t include that in the show is ludicrous.
