Great read, definitely a read alike for fans of the Hunger Games!

The entire time I was reading this, I was having flashbacks to The Hunger Games and Divergent. Clearly I think all dystopian YA novels are the same.

I knew going into this this it was heavily influenced by The Hunger Games, but it ended up being a little too much so for my liking. This is kind of what happens if Hunger Games, Divergent, and Legend had a baby.

That being said, I'll probably read the sequel and it's perfect if you have teens who can't get enough read alikes of the above titles.

as part of my "find books to recommend to kids that aren't 20 years old" quest. meh.

Hunger Games rip off…

Loved it

Slow start but super intriguing

Think The Hunger Games meets Divergent. It started off a bit slow, but once it picked up, I couldn’t put it down. Just enough intrigue to know it’s only book 1 in a series, not all loose ends are tied up neatly in a bow.

I do feel like Tomas and Malencia could use more fleshing out as characters. There was one plot twist I didn’t see coming. Kudos for keeping me on my toes.

Not bad. Just a lot of similaries to the Hunger Games. Kept comparing. Not my genre either. Curious enought to keep reading the series.

It's a good basic book to teach dystopia, but the action scenes were weak, the characters were underdeveloped and underwhelming, and the ending was a bit lackluster. Similar idea to the Hunger Games. I was not interested enough to continue the series.

If The Hunger Games and Divergent had a book baby, The Testing would be it. That’s not to say I didn’t like it-I loved those books-but everything this book had to offer was pretty much done in those two books. It was very predictable; you see what’s going to happen from a mile away but flaws and all (and there are more than a few flaws), I still enjoyed it. Normally I would rate a book this transparent 2 stars but I’m a sucker for dystopian YA novels, especially ones that don’t have extremely annoying characters.

There was nothing that made this dystopian stick out from the millions of others.
