Bad Bishop is book 2 in the series so make sure you finish book 1 before starting! I absolutely loved this book. The narrator did a great job with the whole book and I loved listening to it! The voices and accents were spot on. The tension is even more intense in this book and I was here for it. I love angst and I love tension especially in an MM book. Marriage of convenience and MM? I was hooked. The cliffhanger was a big one and I honestly can’t wait for the next book to come out so we can get more from this story!
Marsh & Levi are back! After the explosive ending of the last book, our duo & David are in hiding. They go to Marsh's home and we get to meet his moms. They are at Marsh's childhood home and they have their friends there to help. Marsh's two best friends and their partners are there to help end this once and for all.
They are finally on the case of Marsh's boss and friend, Sophie. They go to where it all began, Marsh's old job in Europe. With Sean's help, they are finally making headway in both cases. We meet the major players and learn a few secrets. The book does leave us on a cliffhanger, and there are still so many moves left to take. Many major players are still unknown, but our duo is determined to end it once and for all!
Marsh is still my favourite, and how can you not fall in love with this hot cowboy, with his sexy white stetson? My highlight was when he gets his hat back; he is just not Marsh without it! I just wanted to hug him and tell him that he so deserves to be loved. He is finding it hard to believe that for once, the man he loves wants him back. I think that Levi did an amazing job of showing that to our cowboy. Marsh had a heart of gold and so much love to give.
This marriage is no longer a marriage of convenience. I just loved seeing their feelings for each other grow! As always they are sexy as sin in bed together and I just can't get enough of them. I could read so many books about these two, but I just want to see them home and happy together with David. I so need David's story from when he's older and gets his HEA. I loved his reaction to Sean's husband, he had heart eyes! I am sad we only have one more book left, and I eagerly await its arrival!
I received a copy of this book, and this is my honest review.

4.5* of romantic chess moves
I've had this in my to be read pile for a little while and when i got the chance to get it also on audible i jumped at it. I am now kicking myself that it has taken me this long. Christian Leatherman does a great job in bringing Levi and Marsh to life. This is a listen full of action and steam, a relationship that is gaining in strength and yet still has its moments of fragility. I loved it and can't wait for the next and final book for this series.

can’t get enough of this little family.
really looking forward to their HEA.

Bad Bishop (despite its name-much like Levi I’m learning chess as this case moves along) actually focuses on what Marsh and the team from his work can bring to the case, however, much like Dead Draw, the outsider in this case Levi is still a huge part of it all. Book 2 in the Perfect Play trilogy continues the themes and tropes I’ve always loved in Layla Reyne’s books (found family, mystery, and characters that communicate) with some Europe and Texas scenery. Levi and Marsh are older (“Mature Heroes” if you will) who both have pasts and baggage that can sink their case and their budding relationship if they let it. However, I’m pleased to say again, one of my favorite tropes in romance stories is communication, that they continue to communicate and don’t allow those missteps and misreads to explode and acknowledge that lives have been lived and it’s up to them to figure out how to move forward. Sparks of humor are perfectly placed to break up the tension and allow it to ratchet back up again with smooth pacing. There are plenty of cameos from previous series that make sense within the story and provide for character development for the current characters while for those who have not read all the previous series, there’s enough background to understand who these cameos and their role in this trilogy. I’m truly curious how this will all be resolved in book three because at this point I have no inkling and I’m eagerly awaiting the final book. As expected (it’s the middle book in a suspense trilogy), there is a cliffhanger; however, I don’t think I’ve every felt so at peace on a cliffhanger before. It’s a confusing feeling in the best way. Bad Bishop is worth a read; just make sure you read Dead Draw first!
Well, this series is one dangerous and action-packed way to a happily ever after! We start off pretty much where we left off, so I will not give too many plot points away. Levi and Marsh have turned their situation into quite a hot and steamy affair that has them also growing closer and closer to each other with every moment. I love how dedicated they are to each other and Levi's son David. I really enjoyed getting to know David more in this one as they all joined back with family and friends to regroup and find some safety. I am absolutely chomping at the bit for the final book!
More complex than the first book in this trilogy, with the pursuit for justice shifting more towards Marsh's story and seeing Levi jump boot all into the fray. David is also a delight in the way he is just his teenage self in among the chaos. The cast of characters expands in this one and I am looking forward to seeing how this ends.
This story is heartbreaking and an emotional read. I absolutely loved Marsh and Levi in this one. You get all the feels and swoony moments. I can't wait for book 3 of the series.
As for narration Christian Leatherman did a great job portraying these characters.

And it continues!
Marsh and Levi really put themselves in the middle of the game with this book. As they travelled across Europe getting deeper and deeper into the case, they fell deeper and deeper in love. The ending was super exciting and I cannot wait to see the conclusion in the third book.
